Breakin’ // The Breakdance Movie

It’s from the movie called Breakin’ (IMDB link) (1984)

A variety of classic songs are played throughout the movie.  Chaka Khan – Ain’t Nobody and Kraftwerk – Tour de France are just two of many favourite songs that I really enjoyed listening when watching the movie.

You know that you are enjoying the video when the groove hits you. Sonido Electronico!
And, the fact that I always enjoyed break-dancing – ever since the days at Kockums where the “Fun in Five” (LOL) were held, I couldn’t resist sweeping along Malmoe’s Breakdance Squad and learning the moves. However, the technique is not there today, but the shared love for breakdance is there ;) Enjoy!

Paul Harris & Mark Knight – Astral Acid

Another fantastic track by the UK DJ Paul Harris and our buddy Mark Knight! The bassline is very similar to one of my tracks from the Roland MC303 days in 2002-2003. The track Astral Acid is punching its way up to climax around 4:20 and the swirling lead is tweaked with my favorite knobs – cutoff and resonance! Simple, yet dynamic and progressive. Progressive is simply the way to go!

Mory Kante – Yeke Yeke (Afro Acid Remix)

This is the track I’ll be rollin’ tonight!

All these Salif Keita vibes are coming up… old times, good times, happy times…
This track reminds me of Club Pacha in Barcelona. The day I walked from Sagrada Familia down to Carrer del Doctor Aiguader and went to the club… 2 hours passed and I found myself walking out from the club terrace down to the water by taking a quick dip in the sea. I am sure it was another Mory Kante effect that made me and the twenty-something other people go crazy! Yeke Yeke!

That is how good music affect the human body. The rhythm of soulful African tribal beats are invaluable!

Do I like Sara Varga or not?

This non-important issue has surged within me ever since… I saw her (Sara Varga) for the first time! I don’t know whether she really is talented or not, and, quite frankly, I don’t think her skills are that impressing as she is describes it. Come on girl, from doing some (not so good) DJ sets to being a “sing and songwriter” and a writer.

I’ll continue to write songs as long as my heart is beating, and I hope that you’ll enjoy listening to them. Each and every song has their own story to tell and they are all related to me and my life, but I really hope that you can relate to them as well.

My complaint list is just too shallow (hah) to be written here, but she could at least:

  • keep her voice in tune when singing those deep ooo’s and high iiii’s
  • be a better role model for those shallow youngsters
  • get rid of those hair extensions
  • get herself a marketer (check her website and be the judge)

I would suggest her to choose between either being a DJ, a sing and songwriter or a writer. I always believed that girls could keep track on multiple tasks… but hey, she ain’t that skilled – who cares, right!?
Once again, be the judge – I am probably putting my feet in my mouth by writing all this, but it’s just my honest opinions. And Sara, if you someday somehow, by searching your own name in Google, find this post, please don’t get mad! I shook your hand and you continued playing that funky house track. Thanks for the time being and a sincere Good Luck wish to you :-)
